Dave Schwensen's professional background enables him to bring unique solutions to common problems. A veteran of the fast paced and high stress entertainment industry in Hollywood and New York, he worked behind the scenes as a talent coordinator and consultant for television networks, film studios and live performance venues. With egos and star power often clashing on a daily basis, Dave developed a set of communication skills to promote teamwork and meet deadlines through his experiences with many of today's top stars and production companies.
Dave is the author of How To Be A Working Comic: An Insider's Guide To A Career In Stand-Up Comedy, (Back Stage Books, NYC), and Comedy FAQs And Answers: How The Stand-Up Biz Really Works, (Allworth Press, NYC). Though not a stand-up comedian, his insider's knowledge of the entertainment industry was earned as Talent Coordinator for the television show, A&E's An Evening At The Improv, and the legendary Improv Comedy Clubs in Hollywood and New York City. While in this capacity he also acted as a comedy consultant for many television and film productions. Included in this list are The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with David Letterman, The Today Show, Comedy Central, HBO, MTV, Disney, Paramount and other major television networks and film studios.
As a nationally recognized humor and comedy coach, Dave's workshops are sold-out events from New York to San Francisco. He has been featured on PBS Television and Radio, Chicago Tribune, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Hollywood Reporter, Ohio Magazine and many others. He has also made numerous national and regional television and radio appearances as a featured author, consultant and humor / comedy expert.
Dave is the host of the Cleveland and New York based weekly radio show, What's So Funny! an award-winning humor columnist, and an entertainment journalist with articles published in the United States, Canada and Japan. His reviews, interviews and behind the scenes exclusives have included entertainers such as Paul McCartney, Bill Cosby, Britney Spears, Ray Romano, Garth Brooks and too many other celebrities to mention in what is meant to be a short bio! His third book, The Beatles In Cleveland, was published in 2007 and has landed on numerous Amazon.com Best-Seller Lists, including Number One for "Items Sold In Northern Ohio." For a magical journey back into 1960s pop culture and the excitement of Beatlemania, Dave also presents a one hour keynote with a rare film of The Beatles in concert as the grand finale.
Tired of making his hometown a vacation spot every year, Dave relocated from Hollywood to the South Shore of Lake Erie. His current inspiration and frequent cast of characters for his award-winning weekly newspaper humor column Something To Laugh About include wife Debutant Deb, sons Dangerous Paul and Chaos Kevin, and a large dog named Snickers who is fond of eating television remote controls.
