Chris Lincoln's Bio
CHRIS LINCOLN - PUBLIC SPEAKER - HUMORIST
Born in London, England in 1957, adopted as a young child by a very English father and a German mother, Chris has followed, what might be called a non traditional path.
From ages four, through eleven, Chris attended Chelmsford Cathedral School, and yes, as a boy soprano he did the whole angelic child thing...
Chelmsford Technical High was his next school where he developed his speaking skills to a high level (His report card mentions talking a great deal...) Academics took something of a back seat as the lure of amateur dramatics and the stage bought out the inner ham, and as Head Boy (Student Body President) the highlight of his graduation was sharing the stage with the author Hammond Innes, and having his speech reported in the local paper.
Chris attended Newcastle University, England, and after a year of Law, (with dreams of waxing eloquent in a packed courtroom) he transferred to the Psychology department. As a Disc Jockey and Convener of Debates for the Student Union, Chris relished the multiple opportunities to use his vocal skills to supplement his meager grant.
Graduating with a less than practical degree in Psychology, his path meandered through being a pilot and a used-car salesman. to selling Real Ale and advertising, and somehow ending up as a Police Officer. After six years in uniform, during which he collected some extraordinary stories, and had to talk his way out of some sticky situations, Chris attended Durham University’s Teacher Training course, and found a safer way to get paid for talking, this time as an elementary school teacher.
While teaching in England, he connected his class with a class in California as pen pals. Naturally, this led to him visiting California, meeting the class teacher, falling in love, and wanting to stay.
So, twenty years ago, after a year of a transatlantic relationship, Chris the bachelor, became husband to a California girl, and step-dad to two young boys.
Teaching in private schools while earning a CaliforniaTeaching Credential had him crossing paths with an Episcopal priest who founded schools as a retirement hobby. When this mentor started a new school, Chris began his path as an educational administrator, as an Elementary Principal. Middle School Principal and Interim Head of School. Each giving him opportunities to address audiences from very young children to adults.
During this time, Chris had the opportunity to share some of the children’s stories he had written, as well as address the myriad issues that plague parents and teens in assemblies and presentations.
After a dramatic change of leadership at his school, Chris found himself in need of re-invention. Looking to find a way to combine his love of writing and public speaking, he started writing a series of articles for his diverse readers. These articles became the material Chris uses on stage.
Still the educator at heart, with stand-up comic tendencies, and the unique worldview afforded him by his history, Chris would love to offer his vocal talents for your event, conference or assembly.
